When did you start working here? August 2008
Where else have you worked? I was an Anchor/Reporter for KWCH-TV in Wichita, Kansas.
Where did you go to college? I'm a 2007 graduate of Northern Kentucky University with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism.
What are you most proud of when it comes to your work? The first two years of my career were without a doubt the hardest. While in Kansas, away from my family and friends, I earned four Kansas Association of Broadcasters Awards. This ultimately led to me landing my dream job at 9 On Your Side shortly after my 24th birthday. Knowing I was coming home to Cincinnati was a moment I will never forget.
What are you most proud of in your own life? While accomplishments are celebrated professionally, in my opinion, they pale in comparison to personal accomplishments. Every moment of everyday, I represent a precious little girl who calls me daddy. My daughter is the light of my life and the reason I wake up in the middle of the night to do what I do. When my daughter hurts, I hurt. When she smiles, I smile. When she’s scared, I’m scared. When she learns, I learn. Her life continues to amaze me.
What do you love about living in the Tri-State? First, my family. Second, the Cincinnati Reds. Third, everything else!
What are your favorite local hangouts/places, sports & cultural institutions? I love Mason and West Chester considering that is where I grew up and where most of my family still lives. I also have learned to really like Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Everyone I have met within the school system could not be more professional and bright.
All time favorites? There is something about country music that touches my soul. Both new and old, really old... Hank Williams old.
I also love a good movie. Top two? Good Will Hunting and Top Gun.
Other than 9 On Your Side & WCPO.com, you get your news from: I often watch CNN and read the Cincinnati Enquirer. An inside journalist tip, I hear a lot of the days news from my sources that I've gained during my 5 years at 9 On Your Side.
Apps you can't live without? 9 On Your Side Storm Shield Weather App. Plus I like to see Larry Handley do his best to use it live on air each morning. It's like watching someone rub their belly and pat their head at the same time.
Tell us more! At the end of the day, it's a pleasure to not only work in my hometown, but at the same station my step-father (Chic Poppe) spent 40 years of his career.
