Picture of puppy in Ziploc bag causes media firestorm

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M -- A New Mexico woman has stirred up controversy on social media after putting her eight-week old puppy in a plastic bag and posting a photo online.

Mary Snell and her son, James Engel, reportedly took the picture and posted it on Facebook to show how small the puppy was, according to CNN.

“She did admit it was wrong, but she couldn't get the dog to sit still, so she did it anyway,” Sgt. Aaron Williamson of the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office told KOAT.

Snell and Engel were arrested and both are facing animal cruelty charges, according to reports.

The puppy is "doing just fine," reports KOAT .
