Over the next few weeks, most of us will head out to buy electronics and other items, lured in by promises of big markdowns, at the lowest prices of the year

But watch out: Some of those holiday season deals may be no better than what you can find any day.

Before you spend your hard earned money, you might want to double check that deal.

Is it really a discount?

Consumer Reports Magazine recently found a Samsung 60 inch LED TV at "$500 off."

But the magazine says that appeared to be an exclusive Black Friday model for just one store, not sold anywhere else, at any price.  How can that be $500 off?

Consumer Reports also found a Sony Bravia Smart TV advertised as "$1,200 off."

But that was off the list price, that the magazine says it rarely sells at, if ever.

The real savings? Just $200, according to Consumer Reports

Doesn't That Stink?

So from the doesn't that stink file: deceptive holiday season deals.

Before fighting crowds for a great electronics deal, you may want to look it up on Amazon and other electronics sites like B&M, Crutchfied, etc.

You may find it's only $100 off, and not worth waiting in line for.

So check to see if those deals are really the deals they claim, so you don't waste your money.
