Deer Park father charged with helping son beat teen with bat

DEER PARK, Ohio -- A Deer Park father is charged with helping his teenage son beat up another boy with a bat.

Police say Michael Schwab, 37, drove his 16-year-old around the neighborhood Wednesday looking for the victim.

According to court documents, Schwab’s son is accused of beating the 16-year-old victim with a bat near the intersection of Maple and Glenway avenues while his father watched. Investigators said Schwab pulled out a knife to keep another teen from helping the victim, according to officers.

The victim was taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with injuries to his head, neck, arm and back. His condition was not immediately available.

Schwab, who has been charged with felonious assault, had his bond set at $1 million during a court appearance Friday.

It's unclear what charges Schwab's son will face.
