Two months after a video showing a dehumidifier on fire went viral on YouTube, the CPSC is recalling that model dehumidifier, along with 80 other models.

In all, more than 2 million dehumidifiers are on the recall list, after 46 reports of the units bursting in flames, and causing more than $2 million in damage to homes.

The dehumidifiers were all made in China by a company called Gree Electric, and include popular brand names like Kenmore, Frigidaire, and De'Longhi, among others.

Following an investigation, the CPSC determined the units can overheat, smoke, and eventually catch fire.

The housing of the units appears to be made of a more flammable plastic than is required for appliances in the US.

Models involved in recall

The recall involves models built between 2007 and 2012, and sold at stores including Lowe's, Home Depot, Sears, Kmart, hh gregg, Menards, and Amazon.com.

It includes the following brands of dehumidifiers, all built by Gree:

Danby

De’Longhi

Fedders

Fellini

Frigidaire

Gree

Kenmore

Norpole

Premiere

Seabreeze

SoleusAir

SuperClima

Specific model numbers can be found on the recall page at www.cpsc.gov.

Owners can receive a full refund by going to www.greeusa.com or calling 866-853-2802.

As always, don't waste your money.
