Platform: Indiegogo.com Started: December 25, 2013 Goal: $15,000 Project By: Brent Bielinski
With hunger affecting more than 1 in 6 Americans, NomNom Nation decided there had to be a way to bring about a positive change. With just a click of a button on the NomNom app, users can see an updated list of most needed items from their local food bank and donate money so the food bank can buy what it needs.
The idea for the project came during the first annual Start-Up Weekend at Miami University in February 2012.
Bielinski, co-founder Chelsea Nauman and lead developer Garrett Emrick won the competition. They visited the Oxford Choice Pantry and were saddened to see so many empty shelves. That inspired Bielinski and his team to move forward with NomNom Nation.
Why should people support NomNom Nation?
Brent Bielinskisays: “They should choose our project because they believe in and support our mission of ending hunger in America. Instead of contributing to the building of the next unnecessary widget or gizmo, they can help us create a movement, become a part of the solution, get off the sidelines and join the pheNOMeNOM! Every dollar contributed will help us launch the NomNom Nation mobile app and together we will unite and empower individuals to end hunger locally and end hunger collectively as a country."

Platform: Kickstarter.com Started: December 18, 2013 Goal: $27,500 Project By: Mark Thompson
Anyone who loves comics knows that creating a collection can truly be a masterpiece. That is what Mark Thompson is attempting to do with his project. Thompson has created a new set of soft cover editions of Winsor’s, “Little Nemo in Slumberland," encompassing the entire run of Little Nemo from the first part of the 20th Century.
Thompson said he’s published several books collecting McCay's works in the past but believes that Kickstarter is the best venue to fund a book that will allow fans to interact and truly be a part of the experience.
Why should people support the Winsor McCay Project?
Mark Thompson says: “Every project which can broaden the type of material which gets funded through Kickstarter is a good thing. There are lots of great ideas for new content but this was one of the few which seeks to bring previously published material which is difficult to find to the public in a cheap and easily accessible manner.”
