Man ejected from truck after hitting 2 telephone poles during Liberty Township pursuit

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A man is at a local hospital after deputies say he crashed his truck into two telephone poles while trying to get out of a traffic stop.

Austin Zehenni, 30, suffered injuries to his head and leg in the wreck near Royale Drive in Liberty Township.

Deputies say they pulled over Zehenni at about 3 a.m. on Hamilton-Mason Road near Liberty Grand Drive. But Zehenni started driving westbound once deputies approached his 1996 Dodge Ram.

The suspect lost control during a pursuit with deputies and struck two utility poles, according to a release from the Butler County Sheriff's Office. He was ejected from the truck.

Zehenni was taken to West Chester Hospital. His injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

Deputies issued citations to Zehenni for OVI, driving under a child support suspension, seatbelt violation and failure to control.

The matter is under investigation.
