MASON, Ohio – There are fewer signs of spring in the Tri-State than the build up to the opening of Kings Island. And this year, park organizers are preparing to give visitors a real scream.
The Banshee roller coaster, the latest thrill ride addition to Kings Island, is going through its final tests before taking on riders in less than a month. On Tuesday, March 25, Kings Island decided to give expectant riders a tease of the blue and pink, 4,124 feet of track coaster that contains 7 inversions.
KI officials also say the Banshee is 2-and-a-half minutes trip of terror, making it the world's longest inverted roller coaster. Of course, not shown here is the promised spectacle of a night ride including lighting effects that they say will bring the legend of the mythological messenger from the underworld to life.
Kings Island opens April 18 for its 2014 season.
