Superstitious Strawberry Moon: Just how rare is this Friday the 13th full moon?

It's going to be a bad day for people who believe in werewolves and think black cats bring bad luck. We have a full moon Friday the 13th.

Some are saying this super-superstitious lunar event hasn't happened since 1919. But that's not really true. In fact, it's happened six times since 1919, the website ResearchManiacs.com says .

That said, the last full moon on a Friday the 13 in June happened in 1919. Our last time with this double-whammy was October 13, 2000.

But if you aren't scared yet of the "lunar effect " or the prospects a water-logged, undead killing machine will attack your summer camp, there is a real-life worry you might consider: Solar flares.

Yeah, according to ABC News , one of the big solar flares the sun had earlier this week created "a huge cloud of plasma that could hit the Earth and cause a shock wave" ...so yay?

Speaking of science, this year's Friday the 13th full moon was, technically, only seen by those of us on the East Coast as the moon was full just after midnight, receding in size after that, according to Vox.com . (Folks in South America, Europe, Africa or Asia shared the honor.)

Though we get a spooky "Strawberry Moon " on average of one every 20 years or so, we won't get to see another until 2049. That's 35 years from now.
