MASON, Ohio -- Two Oak Hills High School football players who received medical attention after a helmet-to-helmet hit Friday evening are expected to be OK.

According to Mason coach Brain Castner, defensive backs Khiren Beamon and Cary Jones were diving for a ball at the 10-yard line on Mason High School's football field when they collided with one another.

At 9:28 p.m., the social media person for Colerain High School (@WeAreColerain) re-tweeted a message from Oak Hills' Twitter account that read:

“@OakHillsSports: Thoughts & prayers to Oak Hills Cary Jones & Khiren Beamon after violent collision Ambulance took both off field.”

Jones managed to recover "pretty quickly" but Beamon remained on the field and unconscious for five minutes, according to Castner whose Mason Comets were taking on Oak Hills in a varsity football game.

Castner said Beamon squeezed his mother's hand before medics loaded him into an ambulance. He was transported to West Chester Medical Center for further evaluation.

Jones also went to the hospital but the extent of his injuries were not immediately available. He was released Saturday.

Oak Hills coach Dan Scholz told 9 On Your Side on Saturday he believes both teens are going to be "fine."

While it appears they will be OK, the players received thoughts and prayers from concerned fans and fellow football programs via Twitter Friday evening. In addition to the message of support from Colerain, similar messages were received from the people at Mason, Oak Hills' opponent.

The official Twitter account for Mason football wrote:

"‏@MasonCometsFB: Both Oak Hills players being taken off on backboards. Our thoughts and prayers go out to both of these young men."

The Twitter user @Blackhole_2014 echoed that sentiment.

"Thoughts and prayers go out the the Oak Hills players, the team and their families," the social media user wrote.

According to the Oak Hills website, Beamon is a 6-foot-3 senior who weighs 182 pounds. Jones, a fellow senior, is a 6-foot-2 and weighs 168 pounds.
