Wildcats' Hoeh hurls perfect game

Junior right-hander Katlyn Hoeh threw a three-inning perfect game, the first of her career in Newport’s 15-0 win over Bellevue on Tuesday.

Hoeh had one previous no-hitter. She also hit a grand slam, her first long ball of the season, into the left center field gap. It was the seventh career homer for Hoeh, who also plated a run on a fielder’s choice in the second.

HOLY CROSS 15, COVINGTON LATIN 0 – Freshman shortstop Courtney Turner and senior center fielder Anna Clements hit consecutive first-inning homers for the Indians.

Turner smacked a two-run shot, and she also doubled twice and finished with four RBI. Clements knocked in three.

VILLA MADONNA 15, HERITAGE 0 – Blue Lightning seventh-grade right-hander Brooke Meier tossed a one-hitter and doubled home two runs.

Villa Madonna senior catcher Morgan Trusty drove in three runs with an RBI single in the first and a two-run base hit in the second.

Junior third baseman Kylie Sharp added a two-run single during the Blue Lightning’s seven-run first.
