NOTES: For NCAA tournament qualification purposes, Miami has not played a meaningful game in two months, but the RedHawks can erase what has been an otherwise forgettable season by winning the conference tournament.
It's obviously a long shot, but it's the team's only chance of advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth straight season.
That starts with beating the fourth-ranked team in the country on its home ice in a best-of-3 series.
The Huskies just wrapped up the first-ever NCHC regular season title, going 15-6-3 in league play.
These teams are 2-2 against each other this season. Miami won, 2-0 in St. Cloud on Nov. 8 but lost, 2-1 the following night. On Feb. 21, the RedHawks edged the Huskies, 4-3 but fell, 3-0 in the finale.
St. Cloud dominated Miami, 4-1 in the NCAA regional final that ended the RedHawks’ 2012-13 season in Toledo.
Miami junior forward Blake Coleman has scored the last five RedHawks goals and has been a catalyst since returning from his upper body injury.
The NCHC announced on Wednesday that ALL conference tournament games will be streamed free on the league’s site.
SCSU said in its game notes that all of the games in this series would be televised.
